Hotels: Interesting Information

January 10th, 2011

Most people today know by now that the greatest rates for hotel reservations could be identified online. What they don’t know, and are generally worried about, is how trustworthy numerous of these on line reservation businesses are.

Agoda is among the key reservation businesses you are going to come across if you are searching for accommodation in Asia. They supply booking services for fairly much just about every nation all through the world, but Asia is their specialty.

You may possibly not have heard of Agoda if you haven’t traveled to Asia much, and may well therefore have some concerns, which I will look at today.

For every person who has been to Las Vegas, you already know the magnificence of the Strip. For every person who hasn’t, there’s nothing else pretty like it. When each and every hotel tries to much better itself against the next one, what you get are grand and gorgeous designs of masterpiece. There’s the price, the location, the star level, the shows, and many extra items you have to account for. Here’s my list for you based on star levels, keeping in thoughts this is based on bang for the buck.

There are 3 key issues that travelers have when generating hotel reservations online, which I will outline, after which address below.

3 to 3.5 stars

At this level, you will discover lots of hotels which you can automatically negate. The Riviera, Circus Circus, Imperial, and numerous other people are so rundown which you wouldn’t even stay there for free. At this level, it genuinely comes down to just the Flamingo and Bally’s, both Harrah’s properties. The fees are really comparable as well, both having specials beginning as low as $35 a night. In the end, I’d choose Bally’s. The hotel is bigger, the interior is fancier, and location is slightly better for walking around, and if you slip the clerk a $20 whenever you check in, you will most likely get a cost-free upgrade to the new tower, which have substantially better rooms. Plus it is possible to take a appear at “The Price is Right!”

Will they honor the agreement? Or will you arrive at your destination, suitcase in hand, only to have the front desk clerk claim to know nothing of one’s reservation?

Low rates are great, but what if you will need to create alterations or cancel? Are the reservations flexible?

The final concern is the reliability of guest reviews on Agoda. Some internet sites have come under criticism for the reliability of their reviews, and suspicions that a few of the favorable reviews had been written by owners or staff of the hotel in question.

4 to 4.5 stars

Reliable?

Priceline acquired Agoda in November 2007, adding Agoda’s inventory of 8000 hotels in Asia and 49000 all through the globe to their already large stock.

Palazzo Prestige: The way hotels should be

Prestige Lounge at Palazzo

Prestige Lounge at Palazzo

Enjoying the new Prestige lounge at the Palazzo Las Vegas wasn’t difficult.

On my recent stay, (hey, someone has to test the 42-inch plasma TV and electronic draperies in those rooms) I was impressed with the new Prestige Lounge and the long list of complimentary amenities at my disposal.

From the glass of Champagne I was greeted with at my private check-in to complimentary access to the Canyon Ranch SpaClub fitness facility, I moved about the resort with ease.

I was really impressed with the Prestige lounge. It’s a 12,000-square-foot space with beautiful furnishings like dark wood paneling and velvety-soft plush chairs and sofas. The lounge houses a piano, table and chair sets and a bar area.

The whole lounge is Wi-Fi accessible, so I brought my laptop (it was a work trip, after all) and surfed the net while enjoying my morning coffee. Guests can conduct meetings in the private board room area. There is also a business center with computers available to guests of Prestige — but enough about work.

On to the fun stuff: When you book a Prestige level room, you automatically have access to all the extras you love to have in a hotel. There are five food presentations per day including a deluxe continental breakfast (Try the croissant sandwiches.) There is also a complimentary cocktail hour where hors d’oeuvres are also served.

On select nights you’ll even get to sample some of the Palazzo’s fine dining restaurants like Carnevino and Zine in the lounge, with the opportunity to make reservations at the restaurant for the evening.

I enjoyed my afternoon with admission to the Azure pool. I watched some television on one of the lounge’s big televisions and rented a movie from the DVD library, all complimentary. There’s also an elevated level of concierge service so you don’t have to stand in line for information like everyone else. For an additional charge, I was offered a pillow menu and bath service (in case I forgot my rubber ducky.)

Upgrading my room to include the Prestige level was totally worth it. It’s the way hotel service should be.
